  1. Very Well planned English Book 5 Star Review

    Posted by on 04/22/2013

this series of english books are excellent. I started to use in 3rd grade and the 4th grade English didnt disappoint. The book has a pattern of one chapter being grammar learning, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, etc and then the grammar chapter is followed by a writing chapter whereby the student further applies what was previously taught...paragraph building with use of adverbs; folklore writing using adjectives and speaking parts.

The back of the book also has a very comprehensive glossary that I make my students go back and look at about every two weeks...when they get to a writing chapter.

Lots of good explanations and examples...a very good self guiding book.

  2. Best all around Grammar book out there 5 Star Review

I taught private school for 2 years and this is the best English/grammar book that I've seen for both homeschool and traditional school use. The whole series thru 6th grade (all that I have seen) are very well organized presenting a chapter of new concepts/instruction followed by a chapter of writing skills that further reinforces the previous chapter. If their is a week point it is diagraming sentences, which in my opinion, is a useless skill that too much te is spent on. A student only needs to know parts of a sentence, not how to make some cryptic diagram... My former principal and administrator of 30 years agrees.
