Online California Achievement Test with near-instant, emailed results. This is a timed test.
This 1970 edition California Achievement Test is for students entering grades 2 through 12. It covers the following subject areas: Reading (vocabulary and comprehension), Mathematics (computation and concepts & problems), and Language (mechanics, usage & structure, and spelling). The test for entering grade 2 also includes Auding.
Scores reported will offer a grade equivalent score, but also percentile and stanine rankings for each of the individual test sections. You will receive your test results by email shortly after the test is completed.
Ordering Instructions:
- Enter the FIRST NAME and LAST NAME of the student to be tested in the spaces provided.
- Select the GRADE ENTERING; not the student's current grade.
- COMPOSITE SCORING is included with your test. If you do not need it, you may check the "No" option.
- Indicate if you would like to add the RECOMMENDATION SERVICE service to your test (explained below).
- Please enter information only for one student at a time, then select the Add To Cart button.
- If you wish to purchase testing services for additional students, or wish to make other purchases, select the Continue Shopping link after viewing your shopping cart.
You will receive an email with details about registering to take the test shortly after completing your order. In most cases we are able to send the information within an hour but there may be times where it takes longer - up to 1 business day.

*Please note that the California Achievement Test has a 1 year expiration date.
Composite Scoring:
Christian Liberty has added the composite score option in response to some state and local school requirements.** This score is calculated from the raw scores of the individual sections of the California Achievement Test. Composite score results are displayed in raw score, percentile, and stanine rank formats. A grade equivalent composite score is not available.
What is Composite Scoring?
** Christian Liberty does not require a composite score for enrollment into its homeschool academy.
Recommendation Service:
If you are unsure which curriculum materials to choose based on the achievement test scores, Christian Liberty offers a curriculum recommendation service to provide guidance in this area. This service provides a subject-by-subject listing of recommended curriculum materials (from those offered through Christian Liberty) based solely on the CAT scores.
The recommendation service can take a few business days to complete and may delay the arrival of your test scores.
After testing is completed:
If you decide to enroll your student into Christian Liberty Homeschools (CLH) within six months after receiving the test results, the cost of the test will be deducted from your student's tuition fee. However, if you enroll your student in a grade level using a different test than the one originally taken, the test cost will not be deducted from your student's tuition fee.

Quick and easy!
A good value for the money ($25) compared to various other options. It's a difficult test for 2nd graders...so do sit with them and help explain directions when needed. The scores and curriculum suggestions were sent quickly as promised.

CAT online test
We used the CAT online testing service for three of my children this year and were very pleased. Customer service was very helpful when needed and we were just delighted with how easy it was to use. We had our scores in minutes. We will definitely use this again.

This was a fast, easy way to meet the testing requirements. I had immediate access to the test and I administered it in sections. There were 10 sections, I believe. My child could go at her own pace. It does require computer skills. It was also the most inexpensive testing option. I think I paid $25.00 while other tests that were administered by an individual were approximately $75 - $160. I also had immediate access to scoring results. The only thing I didn't like is that some sections had too many questions. That was a bit much for a rising 2nd grader. The timer was distracting as well and stressed my 2nd grader out. Children that young do not need to be timed. That is why I gave it a 4 rather than a 5. Thanks Liberty!

I Haven't Even Received the Online Version Yet After Several Weeks
It is difficult to rate as I still have not received this test. I've written to ask for assistance but all I received was an email asking for me to rate the test. Sigh. Please send it to me and then I'll be happy to rate it in a positive way. Thank you!

Too difficult
I sat with my children through the entire test. Some sections were done very well. Others were too difficult. My problem may not be with the California achievement test; it is with standardized tests in general. I do not want to know if my children are several levels above their grade. I only want to know if they are at grade level. All of the questions 2 or more years above grade level were so distracting. My children felt great answering the first 50% of the questions, then completely defeated by the final portion. They were very frustrated. I am very pleased with the instant access to the test and the scores.

Easy and Very Convenient
No problems with taking this test. Best part is the immediate results that are sent to you and that the test does not have to be completed in a day. My only complaint would be that if you ordered the curriculum recommendation from Christian Liberty, they were quite slow to get back to me after they received the results. I was told I'd be contacted within days - a week went by and I hadn't heard from them.
