The third of four readers written to complement a kindergarten phonics program (such as Adventures in Phonics: Level A), A Time at Home builds on the rules learned in the first two books and is designed to be read after the child has learned the basic rules for long vowel sounds. Twenty-seven one to three-page stories teach Christian values and consist of short sentences intended to retain attention and promote success. Each story is preceded by practice words that highlight the appropriate phonics rules being presented.
