Course Description: This course teaches students to read and write numerals to 300, and to count by ones, twos, threes, fives, tens, and twenty-fives. Students are also taught addition and subtraction facts in terms of their organization into “families” from one to eighteen to assist in memorization. Additional topics found throughout the course include counting money, comparing greater or lesser amounts, finding the number between two numbers, adding three-digit numbers (with carrying), understanding multiplication as grouping, introduction to simple fractions, shape recognition, ruler usage, reading a thermometer, telling time, tally marking, and Roman numerals for one to ten.
