Recommendation Service Explanation:
The recommendation service that we offer allows for guidance in selecting curriculum for your student. Once the test is completed we will send the test scores to our homeschool curriculum department for review. From there, they will make curriculum recommendations for you based on your student's test scores. This can be an especially helpful tool if your student has above or below average scores on their test, and can assist in encouraging your student further.
All recommended books are available for purchase on our website. This process can take a few business days.
Composite Score Explanation:
As a general explanation, a composite score is a totaling of each of the Raw Scores from the individual sections of the test. You will also receive a percentile and stanine rank of this composite score. In addition, this service will total the individual raw scores by subject, and offer a total score, percentile, and stanine ranking for each. The subjects are Reading, Mathematics, Language, and Spelling.
A composite score is often required by some states and schools. For up to date information and requirements please check with your state, school district, or with the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA).
After testing is completed:
If you decide to enroll your student into the Christian Liberty Academy School System (CLASS) within six months after receiving the test results, the cost of the test will be deducted from your student’s tuition fee. However, if you enroll your student in a grade level using a different test than the one he or she originally took, the test cost will not be deducted from your student’s tuition fee.

This was our first time using an online testing service. The main reason we chose this program was the ability to test in a short amount of time for registration deadlines. The ease of the test taking process (well explained instructions, ease of using a computer vs paper test, and the ability to focus on one test question at a time vs seeing the entire section at once) really helped keep the test anxiety to a minimum! Since I was not able to see the test questions, I cannot say with 100% accuracy this test was completely on grade level, but my children scored very well (above average / well above average) and said they felt they were adequately prepared based on their grade level curriculum. Receiving the results immediately was also a huge plus as well! We will definitely use the Christian Liberty Press testing service again.

I liked this testing format. It was easy to understand how to do the tests. It was well organized and it was very helpful.

This testing is an excellent source for placement of any child's level. It provides a thorough breakdown of each category to aid in discerning areas of challenge and achievement. Thanks for having this available to us.

We used the online CAT test this year to do year end testing. This is our third time I believe, and I think the product is much improved. We had no glitches even though we used my iPad. Everything worked great and the results were very quick. Thanks.

The online CAT is very convenient for homeschoolers. My only issue is that if internet is moving slow, there is no way to adjust grades for that. The tests timed out before my students could finish. That being said, the test is accurate and easy to give to the students. I will purchase these again.

It was great to order the test, get it within minutes, administer when it worked for us, and receive almost immediate results when we were finished. I would definitely use it again.

I only wish I had ordered the paper version of the test, so I could review the tested information. My children all scored low on the 1970's CAT test, but scored off the charts on the California Achievement Test, 5th Edition – Complete Battery – 1992 Version, we used previously. (Upon reviewing the CAT 5 test questions I felt sure the kids would do well.) One of my kids (10th. grader) passed the current state tests given at the local school, but failed the 1970 CAT miserably. So I speculate there is some truth to the claim the Gov. is dumbing down our students, or they are no longer teaching the same curriculum...? My kids use to attend public school, but we were painfully aware they were not receiving an education... so we began Homeschooling them, in 2009. Using Switched on School House to educate our 5 kids. After reviewing how the kids did on this test, I pulled out a Math U See book and compared the curriculum covered by the Classic (1990's) Intermediate book intended for (5-6) grade and found that it covers the same curriculum & more, then other 7-8th. grade courses. I am now going to reevaluate the SOS programs claims that it teaches above the national levels..., especially the Language Arts. Lord help us all if their claims are true... it would appear our kids really are being dumbed down.

This test was easy to use and the results were immediate. The results were not as specific as The Iowa Test of Basic Skills but they gave me a general sense of where my kids are in spelling, math, and reading. My younger kids (grade 2) had some trouble clicking on the small bubbles to choose their answers as they don't have much computer experience. The test is an easy way to get your homeschool testing done.
I also did the curriculum recommendation for my 4th grader as she is very advanced. It seemed like it was not very specific to my child and like they just categorically put her in 5th grade for everything since she did so well. There was no paragraph explaining why 1 curriculum was chosen over another.
