*Please note that the California Achievement Test has a 1 year expiration date.
Christian Liberty has added the composite score option in response to some state and local school requirements.** This score is calculated from the raw scores of the individual sections of the California Achievement Test.
Families who request a composite score will receive (in addition to the individual results provided for the seven subject areas) composite score results in raw score, percentile, and stanine rank formats. A grade equivalent composite score is not available.
To include a composite score with your test results, simply check the “Composite Scoring” option.
What is Composite Scoring?
** Christian Liberty does not require a composite score for enrollment into its homeschool academy.
If you are unsure which curriculum materials to choose based on the achievement test scores, Christian Liberty offers two different curriculum recommendation services to provide guidance in this area:
|Basic Service – provides a subject-by-subject listing of recommended curriculum materials (from those offered through Christian Liberty) based solely on the CAT scores.
Premium Service – consists of a phone conversation (up to 30-minutes) with a curriculum specialist. With this service, the curriculum we recommend will be based on more than just the CAT scores; it will also take into account previous courses completed, student interests, learning style, future plans, and other information provided through the conversation.
Both services can take a few business days to complete.
After testing is completed:
If you decide to enroll your student into the Christian Liberty Academy School System (CLASS) within six months after receiving the test results, the cost of the test will be deducted from your student’s tuition fee. However, if you enroll your student in a grade level using a different test than the one he or she originally took, the test cost will not be deducted from your student’s tuition fee.

These tests were used for 3 children and even surprised on a couple of them and their results.
The CAT online access code arrives within minutes of purchase and is evaluated immediately after the student's completion. Our homeschool utilizes this test for the older elementary through beginning HS yearly test.
This is very easy to administer! I appreciate the immediate scoring, but wish more information was given about each of the test sections. Please note that you do not get information about what specific types of skills are covered in each section. (If your student scores low in a certain area, not much information is given to guide curriculum changes.)
My daughter hasn't finished the test yet. She'll finish the following morning after today's date. So far she has done very well, and has actually enjoyed it. This has been a relief and very smooth and easy process.I'm remembering my public school test days, and was nervous how this would go. So so nice. I plan to use this every time I need testing for my children in future years.
The online CAT is convenient, inexpensive, and fast. I appreciate the ability to be able to do it anytime within our home. Less stressful and instant grading. The only challenge would be that the younger students have not had much computer time - so it took a few minutes to get adjusted to mouse control and where to click. If you are looking for a convenient, low stress test - this is perfect.
This was our first year trying the CAT online test and it was wonderful. We did the practice test first, and it was super helpful! This test is extremely organized. It is broken up into sections, and you can choose to do however many sections you wish at a given time. We broke it up and gave our daughter two-three sections at a time. The whole test took us around two hours. The sections are graded immediately and so you are able to see how your child is doing. I loved seeing my child's strengths and weaknesses so I can know where to focus more in the upcoming year. I highly recommend this online test!
Two of my kids took this test (14 and 13). They were able to complete the whole test themselves after I logged them in and had no difficulty understanding the process. I was emailed the results within a couple hours of completing the tests.
This is our second year using this test and I feel it was very beneficial in seeing my child's progress and to see areas where we need to grow. I love that you get results right away with the online test. It is also easy for my child to navigate, so I am able to set them up and walk away.
We tried out the online version this year to see if we liked it better than the physical test we have used in years past. It is wonderful. It saves me time and it was very simple for my 14 year old to do by himself.
