Composite Scoring:
Christian Liberty has added the composite score option in response to some state and local school requirements.** This score is calculated from the raw scores of the individual sections of the California Achievement Test. Composite score results are displayed in raw score, percentile, and stanine rank formats. A grade equivalent composite score is not available.
What is Composite Scoring?
** Christian Liberty does not require a composite score for enrollment into its homeschool academy.
Recommendation Service:
If you are unsure which curriculum materials to choose based on the achievement test scores, Christian Liberty offers a curriculum recommendation service to provide guidance in this area. This service provides a subject-by-subject listing of recommended curriculum materials (from those offered through Christian Liberty) based solely on the CAT scores.
The recommendation service can take a few business days to complete and may delay the arrival of your test scores.
After testing is completed:
If you decide to enroll your student into Christian Liberty Homeschools (CLH) within six months after receiving the test results, the cost of the test will be deducted from your student's tuition fee. However, if you enroll your student in a grade level using a different test than the one originally taken, the test cost will not be deducted from your student's tuition fee.

Child cannot see all the possible answer choices without scrolling
I ordered this test for a child entering second grade. The problem is that he cannot see all the possible answer choices without scrolling. This makes parts of the test unusable. A paper version would have been much better.

ok but had some technical issues
We had some problems with getting the right test. My daughter finished one test and we decided to re test to see if she could get a higher score. We ordered a 2nd test. My daughter was halfway through the test when I got an email saying the office gave her the wrong username and password so she was actually re-doing her first test. They told her to complete the 2nd test and by then my daughter was frustrated, so her experience was not good.

FIRST YEAR TESTING AND VERY PLEASED
This test is very well formatted. The directions were easy to understand which helped my 6th grade son feel comfortable. It would be good if there is a little more explanation regarding what you are able to do during the test, such as go back to problems if you get stuck. Since the test is timed, it will give the students a little more relief to know that they can answer everything they know first and then go back for the ones they had trouble with. The fact that we got the results so soon after he took the test was very convenient since we needed test scores to apply at a private school.

Sweet
It's easy to understand and go through and my kids and I are able to see the results right away. It helped give me an understanding of how my kids were doing and I ended up having one of my kids redo his math test within 6 months. (If you do that, make sure you contact support so they can reset it for you. Otherwise, it may not grant you access to retake the same grade level with that student. I called and they helped out right away and got us access immediately). My son retook the test and we've seen his improvement. The test has proven to be a great tool to help gauge where my kids are at.

First year doing the ON-LINE CAT test with the kids
We have used the paper CAT test for several years, but gave the On-Line version a shot this year. The reason we chose to do it is because the kids are teens now and will be taking college entrance and CLEP exams On-Line and we wanted to go ahead and get them used to it. We have not done any on-line classes before, so this was a new experience all the way around. WIth that being said, it was a positive experience, overall. We ran into a couple of glitches that I think could have been avoided and that we will know how to handle next time. 1. There is a pause button. If your child has to go to the bathroom in the middle of a timed test, pause the test and it will resume where you left off. 2. Have paper and pencil handy for every test. Whether spelling or math, sometimes it just helps to write something out. 3. Be prepared to sit with your student at least for the first few sections to help get him acclimated. Sometimes the NEXT button wasn't visible and had to be scrolled down to; sometimes it looked like there were only two possible answers, but when he scrolled down a bit there were 5. We will do the On-line test again next year. We loved having the immediate scores!

New to CAT online
The trick was really figuring out how the test was going to happen before starting. We learned on the first section of nine sections. We learned that you can go back before the time is up and correct previous answers in that section. We learned that there is a timer on the bottom left to watch, because we created a google timer in a separate window for the first section. The sample questions are very easy, compared to the test questions. After that, it was make sure you look at the test answers, to see what format or units the answer needs to be. We will be using it again. It was also three times harder than FCAT timewise.
