Paper California Achievement Test with mailed results. This is a timed test.
This test is for students entering grades 2 through 12. Scores reported will offer a grade equivalent score, but also percentile and stanine rankings for each of the individual test sections. You will receive your testing materials by mail. This service includes all the necessary materials and instructions for administering the test. After testing, please return the materials to us for scoring (an envelope is included, but you may use any mailing method you would prefer). After scoring the test, we will then mail the final results and original test sheet to you.
- Enter the FIRST NAME and LAST NAME of the student to be tested in the spaces provided.
- Select the GRADE ENTERING; not the student's current grade.
- Indicate if you would like to add the RECOMMENDATION SERVICE or COMPOSITE SCORING service to your test (both services are explained below).
- Please enter information only for one student at a time, then select the Add To Cart button.
- If you wish to purchase testing services for additional students, or wish to make other purchases, select the Continue Shopping link after viewing your shopping cart.
It can take roughly 1 week to grade the test and mail the results after receiving your test(s). If ordering the Recommendation Service or Composite Scoring service, please allow up to an additional week for the results and service information to be mailed.
* Please note that the California Achievement Test has a 1 year expiration date.
Christian Liberty has added the composite score option in response to some state and local school requirements.** This score is calculated from the raw scores of the individual sections of the California Achievement Test.
Families who request a composite score will receive (in addition to the individual results provided for the seven subject areas) composite score results in raw score, percentile, and stanine rank formats. A grade equivalent composite score is not available.
To include a composite score with your test results, simply check the “Composite Scoring” option.
** Christian Liberty does not require a composite score for enrollment into its homeschool academy.
If you are unsure which curriculum materials to choose based on the achievement test scores, Christian Liberty offers two different curriculum recommendation services to provide guidance in this area:
|Basic Service – provides a subject-by-subject listing of recommended curriculum materials (from those offered through Christian Liberty) based solely on the CAT scores.
Premium Service – consists of a phone conversation (up to 30-minutes) with a curriculum specialist. With this service, the curriculum we recommend will be based on more than just the CAT scores; it will also take into account previous courses completed, student interests, learning style, future plans, and other information provided through the conversation.
Both services can take a few business days to complete and may delay the arrival of your test scores.
After testing is completed:
If you decide to enroll your student into the Christian Liberty Academy School System (CLASS) within six months after receiving the test results, the cost of the test will be deducted from your student’s tuition fee. However, if you enroll your student in a grade level using a different test than the one he or she originally took, the test cost will not be deducted from your student’s tuition fee.

My experience with CAT has been as a Director of Education for a nationwide tutoring chain which offered a very clear picture of a student's ability. Once we made the decision to homeschool, I felt that need to have a good resource to compare what we were doing with the national average but nothing excessive like today's testing. Since we live in area with almost zero oversight, the CAT was the test which popped into my brain. For the cost and time, this is a DEAL!! I already knew what to expect scoring wise but this has helped to see that comparative analysis and to help plan for the year's focus points.
When in doubt, call Customer Service - they have always been prompt answering the phones and will provide answers without pushing. Many are homeschoolers as well so they understand where we are coming from as we work that balance.
Love the level of the test. Not watered down for the modern, weakened students. I highly recommend the 1970 CAT.
grateful for this! Would absolutely recommend this! Thank you!
We have used Christian Liberty Press before for their tests. The CAT is a straight forward test for kids to take and parents to administer. CLP has great customer service and are quick with getting the results back to the parents.
This is the only test we use for our kids! It is easy to use and we get the results back quickly!
I am very satisfied with the tests sent. Looked them over and very confident in my children.
I am a mom of ten homeschool children. We moved from a state that had zero school laws to a state that required testing. My children did exceptionally well on their first year of testing. I love that it is simple and straight forward no weird common core questions. It is very basic , so as long as you cover the basics: reading , writing, and arithmetic then you will be all set. Love the ease of its. The price is awesome! Simply mail away and get results within a week and a half. I recommend to ALL of my homeschooling moms!!!!!
I’ve used the cat test for 6 years now, and abosolutely love it!
This test is for students entering grades 4, 5, or 6. My child is entering fourth grade next year, and this test will be challenging.
