Online California Achievement Test with near-instant, emailed results. This is a timed test.
This 1970 edition California Achievement Test is for students entering grades 2 through 12. It covers the following subject areas: Reading (vocabulary and comprehension), Mathematics (computation and concepts & problems), and Language (mechanics, usage & structure, and spelling). The test for entering grade 2 also includes Auding.
Scores reported will offer a grade equivalent score, but also percentile and stanine rankings for each of the individual test sections. You will receive your test results by email shortly after the test is completed.
Ordering Instructions:
- Enter the FIRST NAME and LAST NAME of the student to be tested in the spaces provided.
- Select the GRADE ENTERING; not the student's current grade.
- COMPOSITE SCORING is included with your test. If you do not need it, you may check the "No" option.
- Indicate if you would like to add the RECOMMENDATION SERVICE service to your test (explained below).
- Please enter information only for one student at a time, then select the Add To Cart button.
- If you wish to purchase testing services for additional students, or wish to make other purchases, select the Continue Shopping link after viewing your shopping cart.
You will receive an email with details about registering to take the test shortly after completing your order. In most cases we are able to send the information within an hour but there may be times where it takes longer - up to 1 business day.

Composite Scoring:
Christian Liberty has added the composite score option in response to some state and local school requirements.** This score is calculated from the raw scores of the individual sections of the California Achievement Test. Composite score results are displayed in raw score, percentile, and stanine rank formats. A grade equivalent composite score is not available.
What is Composite Scoring?
** Christian Liberty does not require a composite score for enrollment into its homeschool academy.
Recommendation Service:
If you are unsure which curriculum materials to choose based on the achievement test scores, Christian Liberty offers a curriculum recommendation service to provide guidance in this area. This service provides a subject-by-subject listing of recommended curriculum materials (from those offered through Christian Liberty) based solely on the CAT scores.
The recommendation service can take a few business days to complete and may delay the arrival of your test scores.
After testing is completed:
If you decide to enroll your student into Christian Liberty Homeschools (CLH) within six months after receiving the test results, the cost of the test will be deducted from your student's tuition fee. However, if you enroll your student in a grade level using a different test than the one originally taken, the test cost will not be deducted from your student's tuition fee.

California Achievement Test (CAT)
I use this test every year to test my son at the end of the year. It is very easy to administer and directions are clear and understandable. The only problem I have is it always seems during 1 of the tests something distracts ( no matter how well we get prepared) and the tests are timed and can not be paused. So usually 1 test does not score him right because he doesn't complete it. I will say, I don't know how that can be corrected. I highly recommend and will use again for future testing.

This is our 2nd time buying the CAT from Christian Liberty. Its a great product, smooth transaction and I have absolutely no complaints. We will keep using it as long as my children are home-schooled!

Highly Convenient!!!
It was the end of the year before realizing we needed standard testing. This testing format fit our needs perfectly. Results were ready as soon as the tests were complete.

Overall perfect for what we were looking for.
We have used this test for three years, the online version twice and the paper version once. All were great. This year we went with the online version again. Everything was great, results were quickly emailed to me. The only complaint I have is I bought one for my son one week and the second for my daughter the following week. The second one I bought was $5 more. I didn't see anything about a sale or anything so I'm not sure what the price difference was about. But the product itself was awesome and the price was acceptable.

Easy, But Will Try Paper Version Next Year
This is an easy test to access, and I especially liked being able to have instant results. However, the time limits seemed short, and I think having to navigate the questions on the computer plus the newness of answering with the mouse lost time for my 2nd and 3rd graders. The spelling section of Level 2 focuses highly on sight words and hardly any phonetically-spelled words. The price is reasonable, and I think the CAT gives a fair assessment. I will let my kids decide next year whether to do the online version again, or if they'd rather have paper.

Complication Free, Quality Testing
This is the third yea we have used the CAT test. My son has anxiety at the thought of timed tests but now trusts that the CAT gives enough time for him to complete the tests. He does well and we will continue to use this every year. I like the fact that I receive immediate reports which are well laid out and easy to read and understand.

Super easy testing at home
I recently gave three of my kids a CAT5 survey to satisfy requirements for WA state yearly testing. They all took theirs at the same time and I had no issues, despite a slower internet connection on my end. The oldest had taken a standardized test before and did fine. The other two were taking tests for the first time but were able to understand the directions without any difficulty. I appreciated having the scores immediately and being done with it that day, until next year. The service was prompt and I can't think of any complaints.

If you have to do testing - this is the way...
My daughter was stressed about this and it was laid out in a way she could do it herself. We might do it every year even though it is not required in our state - just for practice so she isn't stressed the years she needs to do it. We really liked the almost instant results.
