Online California Achievement Test with near-instant, emailed results. This is a timed test.
This 1970 edition California Achievement Test is for students entering grades 2 through 12. It covers the following subject areas: Reading (vocabulary and comprehension), Mathematics (computation and concepts & problems), and Language (mechanics, usage & structure, and spelling). The test for entering grade 2 also includes Auding.
Scores reported will offer a grade equivalent score, but also percentile and stanine rankings for each of the individual test sections. You will receive your test results by email shortly after the test is completed.
Ordering Instructions:
- Enter the FIRST NAME and LAST NAME of the student to be tested in the spaces provided.
- Select the GRADE ENTERING; not the student's current grade.
- COMPOSITE SCORING is included with your test. If you do not need it, you may check the "No" option.
- Indicate if you would like to add the RECOMMENDATION SERVICE service to your test (explained below).
- Please enter information only for one student at a time, then select the Add To Cart button.
- If you wish to purchase testing services for additional students, or wish to make other purchases, select the Continue Shopping link after viewing your shopping cart.
You will receive an email with details about registering to take the test shortly after completing your order. In most cases we are able to send the information within an hour but there may be times where it takes longer - up to 1 business day.

Composite Scoring:
Christian Liberty has added the composite score option in response to some state and local school requirements.** This score is calculated from the raw scores of the individual sections of the California Achievement Test. Composite score results are displayed in raw score, percentile, and stanine rank formats. A grade equivalent composite score is not available.
What is Composite Scoring?
** Christian Liberty does not require a composite score for enrollment into its homeschool academy.
Recommendation Service:
If you are unsure which curriculum materials to choose based on the achievement test scores, Christian Liberty offers a curriculum recommendation service to provide guidance in this area. This service provides a subject-by-subject listing of recommended curriculum materials (from those offered through Christian Liberty) based solely on the CAT scores.
The recommendation service can take a few business days to complete and may delay the arrival of your test scores.
After testing is completed:
If you decide to enroll your student into Christian Liberty Homeschools (CLH) within six months after receiving the test results, the cost of the test will be deducted from your student's tuition fee. However, if you enroll your student in a grade level using a different test than the one originally taken, the test cost will not be deducted from your student's tuition fee.

Good with an exception
I have a couple of children who get stressed by timed tests and this seemed to not give them enough time on some of their harder subjects. It could just be the nature of the test but it was very frustrating to them.

Good General Data
I used these CAT tests to get a general idea of where my kids are at the end of our first year of homeschooling. Because we don't follow CA curriculum guidelines, they didn't know some of the information, but that's to be expected with nearly every standardized test (unless you're teaching to the test). Our biggest complaint was that it locked the kids out of answering a question when there was still time remaining on the clock. That was frustrating but there was nothing we could do about it. I liked the instant results, but I wish I could have read over the questions that they missed so I could have talked with them about them. The data is general, not specific, so there's only so much you can do with it. I still don't know what specific areas they're struggling with. For example, they scored well in math computation but not comprehension, but I don't know what sort of questions were asked for comprehension, so I don't know what to focus on.

Excellent and with instant results!
It was a great experience. Easy to use and same quality test! I preferred my child using a mouse with the laptop for better control. Thank you for providing such a wonderful option to take the test online!

Little Value
Christian Liberty was easy to work with and most helpful when we had timer issues on some of the tests.I did appreciate the ease of the tests and the instant results. Four of the tests did not allow the entire test time to run. The assistant at C.L. was very helpful. However, as an educator and using this test for the first time, I was disturbed and insulted at the content level presented. I would not advise using this test unless you are strictly trying to satisfy a state requirement. For your child's educational benefit, I would use another test. Be Cautious.

Excellent tool
It was easy to use for my son, very understandable directions with examples to follow. He was able to complete it at his pace and I loved the immediate results I received. The price was right too!

Cat Review (Just what we were looking for)
We have homeschooled for a few years. After moving to a state that requires CAT testing, we found Christian Liberty! The test was amazingly simple to take online, the results were instant, and the customer service was outstanding! We were also very pleased by the price of the test!
